NWA Mid-Atlantic results from Rutherford County, North Carloina
Jeff Richards with Georgia Wrestling History did a great review of the NWA Mid-Atlantic show featuring NWA Hall of Famer Ric Flair. I have heard that Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling does a lot of benefit shows in North Carolina to help out local charities. And it really is commendable that they are able to give back to the community and continue to promote the NWA and the legacy of wrestling in that area. Aside from the action in the ring, The former NWA World Champion several times over was in attendance to do the autographs and pictures for the fans who came out. The quick results for the 600 plus in attendance were:
Chris Hamrick defeated Donnie Dollar$
MACW Ladies ChampionshipMatch
Krissy Vaine defeated Jayme Jameson to win the vacant MACW Ladies Title
Ricky Morton defeated Andru Bane
MACW Jr. Heavyweight Title
Rikki Nelson retained defeated Richie Steamboat
MACW Heavyweight Title
Buff "The Stuff" Bagwell pinned MACW Hardcore Champion Beautiful Bobby Eaton.
The fans were said to have gone home happy, but in some confusion it was announced that Rikki Nelson had the ring announcer declare this bout was for the NWA WORLD Jr. Heavyweight Title
As the reporter Richards states "news to Mike Quackenbush, I'm sure." Is this just a simple flub by the Ring Announcer or is Nelson billing his championship as a true Worlds Title? We are discussing the controversy on the message board, join the discussion by clicking here.
Regardless of this minor controversy it seems that the fans in The Rutherford County were treated to a slice of the Mid-Atlantic tradition and Ric Flair continues to make the North Carolina Flair Country.
