A disputed NWA World Champion or a typo?

White Tiger, Mr. Paws and Claws of NWA Main Event will be competing for former NWA affiliate Great Championship Wrestling. Some well known names will be appearing at the event like former NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion: Jimmy Rave, former WWE Star Bull Buchanan, Johnny Swinger, and Tiger's opponent and former WWE Referee Mike Posey.

But the confusion comes in regards to the match up between Posey and White Tiger. GCW is billing this match as a NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship match, however its pretty well known that Mike Quackenbush is the reigning NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. Tiger is the reigning NWA Top Rope (NWA Main Event Affiliate) Jr. Heavyweight Champion. So perhaps it is a misunderstanding.

Regardless, White Tiger has been gaining momentum in the Tennessee area and perhaps this branching out is what it will take for him to get a show at Mike Quackenbush. We all remember Quack's propensity of ripping masks of wrestlers who resemble Tigers. Could it be long before Tiger challenges Quack? Do you think White Tiger should get a NWA World Title shot at Mike Quackenbush?

Whether it is in singles competition or in a tag team, Cru Jones has had golden aspirations and has reached the pinnacle multiple times. It appears Jones has his eyes set on one Micha Taylor.

Main Event announced for Fred Ward Memorial 08

In light of the events that took place this past Thursday in Phenix City, Great Championship Wrestling has announced that the main event of the Fred Ward Memorial will be Cru Jones versus Bull Buchanan in a Bull Rope Match for the GCW Heavyweight Title.

For those of you who missed it, GCWACTION.COM will have footage later this week of last Thursdays massacre by Cru Jones on Bull Buchanan, which lead to this monumental main event match being signed for September 4th at the Fred Ward Memorial.

Things are heating up at the Great Skate Plex. In July Cru Jones, 1/2 of Hot Like Lava, parlayed his Tag Team Championship success into a one night tournament to determine a new number one contender. Not only did Jones defeated Scotty Beach, but he also defeated tag team partner Shaun Banks and David Young before becoming the number one challenger to Johnny Swinger. Staying Hot, Jones ended up defeating Micha Taylor in a triple threat match against Taylor and Heavyweight Champion Johnny Swinger.

In between trips to Pro Wrestling NOAH, Bull Buchanan teamed up with Scotty Beach and defeated the champs, Hot Like Lava.

GCW Updates

First the results have been made available for the GCW Wargames. The video bellow was a 30 minute piece GCW did to count down to their Wargames match. You can read the results by clicking here. What I find really interesting is that Bull Buchanan is returning from his tour of Japan with NOAH. But he isn't coming alone. Buchanan will be bringing with him to GCW, former NWA Tag Team Champion, D-Lo Brown. This will mark the first time D-Lo has appeared for GCW.

Great Championship Wrestling

Not to be confused with GCW Pro which operates in Alabama and is not affiliated with the NWA, Great Championship Wrestling is based I Georgia. It uses a lot of former NWA Wildside. Wrestlers like Bull Buchanan, David Young, Sonny Siaki, and Johnny Swinger, who holds their heavyweight titles. GCW runs about once a week. I don't know if this google video is a one time deal or if they will be airing a series of episodes. From my understanding, Swinger is in an alliance with manager/color commentator Quinten Michaels and his other man Zero Tolerance. Bull Buchanan and David Young have battled with the champion Swinger in failing efforts to take the title away. There is also the Interstate Champion, who has had a series of victorious defenses in the last month.
