The NWA invades Mexico in more ways than one.

During the Lucha Libre Experiencia which happens later this month, Lucha Libre companies join together to host a series of events to celebrate Lucha Libre. You almost never see this type of comrade here in the United States, which in itself, makes the event unique. Joining our very own NWA Mexico in the festivities are Perros Del Mal, IWRG, El Pancracio, DTU, and CMLL.

But what is significant about this years Expo is the influx of wrestlers who compete in the NWA appearing on these events. Both Pro Wrestling Revolution Heavyweight Champion Oliver John, "Strongman" Jon Anderson, Hijo De Rey Misterio and Pro Wrestling Revolution Women Champion Princesa Sujei will be at the Expo. Along with NWA Pro Wrestling's TJP aka TJ Perkins and former WWE Diva/TNA Knockout Shelly Martinez who got her start in NWA Pro/EWF.

NWA Mexico's card features two title defenses for July 23rd. Pro Wrestling Revolution Heavyweight Champion and reigning NWA Heritage Champion, "El Patron" Oliver John will travel to Mexico to take on his rival former NWA World Champion Blue Demon Jr., Blue Demon spent most of his reign as NWA World Champion fighting off the advances of Oliver John in Pro Wrestling Revolution. But it appears now that Oliver John has become the hunted. As Demon has staked his claim at a PWR Heavyweight Championship match. This will mark the first time the Pro Wrestling Revolution Championship will be defended in Mexico. Also on this event the title being refered to as the NWA Mexico Championship Turbo battles Dr. Cerebro.

On July 24th CMLL "Strongman" Jon Anderson joins Mistico and Shocker to take on Texano, Terrible, and Hector Garza. Jon Anderson has become somewhat of a Globetrotter in recent years. Anderson has worked with the Inokis at IGF, New Japan Pro Wrestling and most recently and regularly, CMLL. Speaking with Gabriel Ramirez on Alliance Radio he spoke of how Shocker became a Strongman fan. And ever since, Strongman has partnered with Shocker. Also on the CMLL card, Princesa Sujei, the reigning PWR Women Champion will be teaming with La Comandante and Amapola to take on Dark Angel, Marcela, and Lluvia.

And on July 25th, during the Perros Del Mal show, Hijo de Rey Misterio, Hijo de L.A. Park and Angel take on TJP, Black Fire, and Bestia 666. And Shelly Martinez teams up with Medusa to take on Annie Social and Diva Salvaje.

The invasion of Mexico might have started with Blue Demon Jr. and his wrestling promotion, NWA Mexico.  But it seems at least for now, that the talent of the NWA are finding their own in Mexico.

Congrats to the new NWA Pro Wrestling Revolution Women Champion

Credit: Pro Wrestling Revolution
Pro Wrestling Revolution’s Womans Title was defended and changed hands in Mexico at Arena Puebla for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). It is such an honor to have our title defended in this manner. We want to thank CMLL for allowing this to take place.

The match was between Lady Apache, champion, and Princesa Sugey. Lady Apache took the first fall and seemed on path a straight fall win when Sugey pulled off surprise fujiwara armbar to steal the second fall. Sugey’s been doing that a lot lately. Sugey blocked a move on the top rope and landed on of her own to take the match. New Champion!

And if you listened to Tuesday's Episode of Alliance Radio with Gabe Ramirez, you heard first hand that there are plans to bring Princesa Sugey back to a Pro Wrestling Revolution ring to defend her championship.  The question is, where will that Pro Wrestling Revolution ring be?

Bob Trobich verifies Blue Demon's athority in Mexico in regards to the NWA Mexico

This is video is in regards to Blue Demon Jr's decision to remove the NWA World Titles out of CMLL.  The NWA World Welterweight Champion was Mephisto, the NWA Middleweight Championship was Averno, and the NWA Light Heavyweight Championship was Texano Jr., whom all wrestled for CMLL.  The titles have been striped via the NWA Mexico Office and Blue Demon Jr. has filed a complaint with the Boxing Y Lucha Commission.  Bob Trobich confirmed to Alliance-Wrestling Radio on March 6th.  Bob goes into depth about the reasoning for removing the NWA Titles from CMLL and why Zero One is allowed to continue to use the NWA titles.

NWA to reclaim its titles from CMLL.

As reported by The Cubsfan, Blue Demon Jr. (as NWA rep) held a press conference showing off new belts (same look, but they don’t have 40 years of use on them), declaring CMLL is officially prohibited from using their versions of these NWA championships, declaring these championships vacant and explaining they’ve sent letters to the commission to enforce these decisions. Demon then posed with the belts will people who clearly respect title belts, Los Perros del Mal. (Well, X-Fly had his title back anyway.) Of note, they had new light heavyweight and middleweight titles, but not a welterweight one, so maybe Mephisto’s in the clear. Demon says they’ll be holding tournaments for the titles, and CMLL and AAA are invited to send wrestlers.  Some people speculate that Perros Del Mal have entered into an agreement with NWA Mexico.  No official announcement has been made as of yet.

Interview with “Lightning” an interview with "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush

Our friends over at Westside Pro Wrestling did a great interview with NWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion, "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush recently. With their permission we are re-posting this interview. To keep up with the all the news, results and info on the Western Australian wrestling scene, subscribe to westsideprowrestling@hotmail.com.

[Mana, The Polynesian Warrior], brings Westside Pro Wrestling newsletter a monthly column in which he gives his thoughts on the current scene or talks with superstar friends from his past in the United States.  For this article I thought I would get in touch with one of the most amazing wrestlers I have ever had the opportunity to be in the ring with. Some of the stuff he pulls out can be called nothing but amazing. If you don’t believe me look him up on you tube for sure and you’ll see what I mean. His name is “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush and he is the founder of CHIKARA pro wrestling. I first studied Mike Quackenbush matches against Reckless Youth who back then stupefied me just as to how the hell they pulled a lot of there moves off so damn quick and so crisp. These days Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero do this with Mike and they are giants.   Quack has been one of the premier wrestlers on the circuit for over ten years now as well as publishing his own books. He is one of the forefathers to a style that can only be described as Lucha / Japanese and X Division all combined into one.  I am proud to put together this interview with one of my good friends and one of the best cruisers in the American Independent scene as well as the world - “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush.

Mana:  How did the name "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush come to be?

Quack:  It was really something pushed on me in the mid-90's, to try and become more marketable. At the time, I was wrestling as M. Quackenbush. The promoter I was working for at the time felt it needed something more, so I added "Lightning" in tribute to Jushin "Thunder" Liger, who inspired me.

Mana:  You and the wrestlers/students of CHIKARA received training from Jorge "Skayde" Rivera, how do you think his influence has improved your abilities?

Quack:  He opened up a whole new world of wrestling for me.  He's in his mid-40's now, and he is more active and more creative than guys half his age.

Mana:  You have wrestled in many top U.S indy promotions, as well as overseas in Europe and Japan, which experiences have been the most memorable in your career thus far?

Quack:  For different reasons, wrestling in Mexico, Germany, and Japan are very memorable experiences. My first match in Mexico, I was given a death threat from a fan. Which is kind of awesome, if you think about it. In Europe, the fans have a great respect for my style, and so I always feel well-appreciated when I perform for them.  In Japan, because I had longed to go there, and worked for years with that as my goal, I found it  especially satisfying just to climb in the ring, and hear the announcer call my name in Japanese.

Mana:  What was it like to square off with someone you had idolized, British pro wrestling legend, Johnny Saint?

Quack:  Humbling, of course. He's such a gentleman, in the ring and out. At times, it was almost like I was not in the match, but  watching it on TV. Prior to the day we wrestled, the only way I had even seen him was on TV.

Mana:  Who is on the list of people you'd like to lock up with one day?

Quack:  Christopher Daniels is always on that list. I would love to have a singles match with him. I think it would be a lot of fun to wrestle  Ultimo Guerrero, or Averno from CMLL as well.

Mana:  You've held the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship for over two years, who in the NWA would you like to defend it against?

Quack:  Anyone. Bring 'em on. I'd love to be out there defending that title every month, if they could line up the challengers for me.

Mana:  In the past couple of years, you have taken CHIKARA to many different states in America, as well as Germany and Japan, where else do you see CHIKARA in the near future?

Quack:  It would be great to play Mexico, since that is where our stylistic roots are, but really, those kinds of things represent great risk.

Mana:  Is there a possibility of Mike Quackenbush coming to Western Australia in the foreseeable future?

Quack:  There is talk of a trip to Perth, I am pleased to report. I would love to play Australia before I hang up the boots. The birthplace of tag team wrestling! It would be a lot of fun.  Any last words?  Please check us out online, we have a free weekly podcast you can watch on iTunes under the name "CHIKARA Podcast-A-Go-Go".

Mana:  Thanks for your time – hope you check out some of Mike’s matches they are amazing and he is sure to be hitting our shores in 2010.

NWA Pro Wrestling Revolution: El Hijo De Rey Misterio to CMLL?

The CMLL and the NWA sanctioned Pro Wrestling Revolution relationship continues to flourish. Pro Wrestling Revolution has been known to bring many luchadors to the the fans of Northern California for the better part of two years. With names like Shocker, Mephisto, L.A. Park, Minis Mascarita Dorada and Pequeño Pierroth, and woman wrestler La Nazi and now with future dates with Lady Apache.

However the most interesting part about the relationship between CMLL and PWR is that the talent isn't just coming one way. Already appearing for CMLL is the "Strongman" Jon Anderson. But the rumor being reported by Superluchas is that El Hijo de Rey Misterio is training in Mexico City for an appearance for CMLL. The son of Rey Misterio, cousin to WWE's Rey Misterio Jr. has wrestled frequently for Pro Wrestling Revolution since its inception. He and his father were former Tag Team Champions in Pro Wrestling Revolution. Superluchas even indicates that perhaps El Hijo De Rey Misterio could be brought in as a challenger to Mistico. Nothing official has been announced, but if El Hijo De Rey Misterio does appear for CMLL, that would be two Pro Wrestling Revolution stars to appear for the company.

NWA Pro Wrestling Revolution's Breaking News!!!

The open door policy that Pro Wrestling Revolution has with the Lucha World has benefited the Lucha based promotion in its short tenure. PWR has seen the faces of former WWE stars like Gangrel, Big Vito, and former ECW wrestler Balls Mahoney. But the list also includes lots of Lucha Stars like; Super Parka, Rey Misterio Sr., Incognito, Super Crazy, Hijo De Sicodelico, and El Guapo himself. Shocker, the man who is 1000% handsome and responsible for recruiting talent into CMLL has made big waves for Pro Wrestling Revolution. But recruiting non other than the "Worlds Strongest Man" Jon Anderson.

Anderson whose fame was derived from many Strongman Competitions that were seen on ESPN and Fox Sports first started his training in 2007 at All Pro Wrestling, in Northern California. Aside from his matches in APW and Pro Wrestling Revolution, Jon Anderson has shown is power in Japan for the Inoki Genome Federation. Now with his experiences stateside, abroad in Japan, and now Mexico, Anderson is making his mark on the sport of professional wrestling.

Congrats to Anderson and Pro Wrestling Revolution.
