The Class of 2008 Hall of Fame ends on a WHOOOO!!!

Credit NWA Wrestling.com
Charlotte, NC (May 30, 2008) – The word legend is thrown around a lot these days, but “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair is the very definition of the word and the National Wrestling Alliance® will be inducting him into the NWA™ Hall of Fame on June 7th at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA!

Flair is an icon of Pro Wrestling and has collected 16 World Heavyweight Championships including 8 recognized by the NWA™, 6 by World Championship Wrestling and 2 for World Wrestling Entertainment. Flair was also the leader of “The Four Horsemen,” a dominant group of fighters that ruled the Pro Wrestling world for many, many years.

“With Ric Flair’s involvement, I’d say our 60th Anniversary event is truly going to be a history making one. I have been around the NWA™ longer than anyone and I can tell you this marks the first time in close to 20 years that Flair is going to step into an NWA™ building,” said NWA™ Executive Director Robert K. Trobich, he continued “Atlanta this is a great homecoming for many of these men, I mean Rich, Sheik, The Midnights, Koloff and Flair at the site of the old Omni? I hope every wrestling fan in Atlanta comes out and shows the support these men earned and deserved. This may be the greatest Class we’ve ever inducted.”

Since the year 2000, Flair has wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment on their RAW and Smackdown brands. Earlier this year he lost a match at WrestleMania 24 in Orlando, FL that required him to retire ending a storied 30 plus year career. Today Flair acts a WWE Ambassador, representing the company at special events.

The 2008 NWA™ Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place on June 7th in Atlanta, GA. It is a featured attraction during the NWA™ 60th Anniversary event. Tickets to this event are on sale now at ticketmaster.com or the Philips Arena Box Office.

The 60th Anniversary Showcase Taping event coming to Atlanta Georgia will be the kick off of the NWA's celebration of 60 years. As previously reported this show will be featured by the return of Sid Vicious to Atlanta. And the only officially announced match of the show thus far is the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion, ICEBERG will defend his title against two former champions. Mikal Judas and Phillip Shatter. This feud of monstrous proportions has spilled over from NWA Anarchy and will make its way into the Phillips Arena for the NWA Wrestling Showcase. ICEBERG will be accompanied to the ring by the evil Rev. Shatter will be accompanied to the ring by his agent Jeff G. Bailey. And if you follow the Anarchy Television, you know that Bailey and the Reverend Dan Wilson will get involved.

Its also was announced by Bill Behrens that James E. Cornette will be bringing Beautiful Bobby and Lover Boy Dennis, the Midnight Express to the Showcase. Although both wrestlers do show signs of the their age from their years of wrestling, reports are that Eaton and Condrey are still great performers and can still out work many wrestlers that are their juniors.

Behren's also reported that all World Champions will be in attendance. "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce, Los Luchas, Lightning Mike Quackenbush, and the newly crowned MsChif.

Also that was previously reported to scheduled to appear; freshly back from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Karl "Machine Gun" Anderson. And although a finalized card hasn't been released the Phillips Arena is shaping up to be a great night of wrestling.

The NWA is marking its 60th year of promoting Pro-Wrestling. Obviously this show is set to feature former WWF & WCW World Champion Sid. There is talk that Rob Conway would also be featured. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a strong contingent of current NWA Showcase wrestlers, i.e. Joey Ryan, Eugene, Brent Albright, Psicosis, TJ Perkins, Tag Team World Champions: Los Luchas, and World Heavyweight Champion: Adam Pearce. I'd also like to speculate the involvement of NWA Anarchy and NWA Virgina. I'm very excited about the show. I unfortunately won't be in attendance, but I look forward to watching what could be the next step in the evolution of the NWA.

One could imagine that this will be the NWA's version of Wrestlemania.

[[[UPDATE]]]
After my conversation with David Marquez, this isn't mean to be a Wrestlemania type event, just a great show. Sorry if I over hyped anyone with my own commentary. I still think its should be a great card.
