NWA Update, by David Marquez.

So, things around the Big Vision/NWA production office seem to be getting back on track. Over the last few months there's been several situations that didn't allow us the time to produce the amount of video I wish we could. Well, not things are bit back to normal and we'll be getting back to the grind and hopefully we'll stay on task. Also, we should have new news on TV distribution (additional to Colours) for the Showcase that should allow more viewers to have better access.

Another bit of news is the NWA Board has asked us to highlight more NWA area talent and we agreed that we need to do that, so over this Summer we'll be sending our cameras out to events all over the country or show footage from other NWA area TV programming, so you all get the real "flavor" of the National Wrestling Alliance.

"The Best of Blue Demon, Jr." had done really well since its release last week. At the moment its only avail exclusively at Hastings Stores and the Big Vision website (www.bvdvd.com). We only ran enough to meet Hastings order, so I guess this is a limited release, so I'd get your copy now. With the success of the title, we're working on others including what was the original "Reclaiming the Glory" set. A lot has happened in the last few years and we felt that waiting would allow for a better release; I think we made the right decision.

Anyhow, we're all here at the office on a Saturday turning out video. At the moment, I'm editing the Phillips Arena event from last Summer. I have to seen the footage since we shot it, I'm so happy with what we produced that day.

I won't bore you all with anything else, gotta go back under the lights and shoot some segments that should be online this week. The episodes that are missing should be up by mid week too.

As always thanks for you passion for the NWA and loyalty.

Disappointed, but the show still goes on.

"Ric Flair, part of the 2008 NWA Hall of Fame class, will unfortunately not be present to receive this honor on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA. World Wrestling Entertainment, which has a contractual relationship with Flair, will not permit Flair to attend the ceremony."

As posted on the NWA Website. This has to be a disappointment for the fans, the wrestlers, and even the promoters. However, there isn't a lot that can be done. The hands are tied of the NWA. And although I can understand the WWE wants to protect their investment in Flair, I can hardly see this as hurting anyone in World Wrestling Entertainment.

The show must go on and fans of the NWA will still be on hand to see such talent honored as Tommy Rich, Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey, Iron Sheik, and the Corsica Brothers. Also still scheduled are Rich vs. Abdullah The Butcher and the Midnight Express vs. th Rock -N- Roll Express. Not to mention some of the prominent names featured in the NWA, not to mention the man who claims to "Rule The World," Sid.

Charlotte, NC (May 30, 2008) – The word legend is thrown around a lot these days, but “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair is the very definition of the word and the National Wrestling Alliance® will be inducting him into the NWA™ Hall of Fame on June 7th at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA!

Flair is an icon of Pro Wrestling and has collected 16 World Heavyweight Championships including 8 recognized by the NWA™, 6 by World Championship Wrestling and 2 for World Wrestling Entertainment. Flair was also the leader of “The Four Horsemen,” a dominant group of fighters that ruled the Pro Wrestling world for many, many years.

“With Ric Flair’s involvement, I’d say our 60th Anniversary event is truly going to be a history making one. I have been around the NWA™ longer than anyone and I can tell you this marks the first time in close to 20 years that Flair is going to step into an NWA™ building,” said NWA™ Executive Director Robert K. Trobich, he continued “Atlanta this is a great homecoming for many of these men, I mean Rich, Sheik, The Midnights, Koloff and Flair at the site of the old Omni? I hope every wrestling fan in Atlanta comes out and shows the support these men earned and deserved. This may be the greatest Class we’ve ever inducted.”

Since the year 2000, Flair has wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment on their RAW and Smackdown brands. Earlier this year he lost a match at WrestleMania 24 in Orlando, FL that required him to retire ending a storied 30 plus year career. Today Flair acts a WWE Ambassador, representing the company at special events.

The 2008 NWA™ Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place on June 7th in Atlanta, GA. It is a featured attraction during the NWA™ 60th Anniversary event. Tickets to this event are on sale now at ticketmaster.com or the Philips Arena Box Office.
