NWA Texas Champion: Lance Hoyt?

A little history: Hoyt's last title defense was on May 21 of 2011 against Scot Summers. The now defunct NWA Southwest failed to run any shows or sanction any title matches at NWA associate member or affiliate events after that defense. When NWA Lone Star (NWA Houston management) and NWA - World Class Championship Wrestling were awarded full NWA membership on October 7, the two management groups were quick to discuss the possibilities of sanctioning matches by which Hoyt would once again resume his reign with the historic title. We look forward to Hoyt's return to the USA...Texas...and the NWA!

Charlie Haas stripped of the NWA Texas Title, New Champ to be crowned Jan. 7th

In the world of professional wrestling sometimes a title can change hands without the champion ever stepping into the ring.  Unfortunately NWA Southwest Commissioner Ken Taylor had to make the announcement that former WWE Superstar and reigning NWA Texas Champion, Charlie Haas would be stripped of the NWA Texas Title.   Taylor officially stripped the belt from Charlie Haas on January 2, 2011 for failing to make a title defense within 90 days so now the belt is up for grabs  at the Livestock Show Spectacular at the RMB Fairgrounds.

Taylor did announce that in four days, Friday January 7th at Robstown Texas, Sicodelico Jr. and  Lance Hoyt will square off in the ring to determine the new NWA Texas Champion.   Sicodelico Jr. has been one of the biggest names in Lucha Libre in the United States working between Mexico and the Lone Star State.  Sicodelico Jr. is one of very few wrestlers with victories over the NWA Worlds Champion, Adam Pearce.  Lance Hoyt has spent the past seven years wrestling for TNA Wrestling and recently in the WWE.  With Lance's departure from the WWE announced recently, it seems Hoyt is focused on making NWA Southwest his new home.  Hoyt a native of Texas plans to prove to the world that he is a superstar and hopes to do so at the expense of Sicodelico Jr.

The world’s largest and oldest professional wrestling organization - National Wrestling Alliance Southwest - has been added to the front end of a week-long slate of events taking place at the 76th Annual Nueces County Livestock Show at RMB Regional Fairgrounds’ Central Pavilion in Robstown, Texas, on Friday, January 7.

Among the headliners appearing will be The Amazing Midgets Blixx and Justice, former TNA and WWE star Lance Hoyt, lucha libre star Sicodelico, Jr., former WWE wrestling legend Tanaka, the exotic Ann Dromeda, Jaykus “Biohazard” Plisken, Ben Galvan, Rudy Russo, Dick Dallas, Cody Jones, Jasper Davis, Ken Houston, Barbi, and many others!

The NWA Southwest road show is part of a major annual event in the Coastal Bend region of Texas next year. In addition to wrestling, the Livestock Show includes midway rides, carnival booths, 4H animal exhibits and judging events, cook-offs, parades, trade booths, and musical acts.

Recording artist Hilda Lamas will sing the national anthem at the show after the presentation of flags by the ROTC Color Guard.

Bell-time is 8 p.m. and doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets only $12 in advance and now on sale at the Fairgrounds box office. Tickets can be ordered calling 361-387-9002. Tickets at the door will be $14.

NWA Southwest to present Charlie Haas vs. Phil Shatter NWA National Title Match

Less than 24 Hours after yet another successful defense for the NWA National Champion Phil Shatter, NWA Southwest Commissioner Ken Taylor announced today that he signed Phil Shatter would agree to defend his title against NWA Texas Heavyweight Champion "Worlds Greatest Wrestler" Charlie Haas.  Shatter took on and defeated one of his largest opponents last night in the NWA Oklahoma champion Michael Faith.  Charlie Haas taunted the National Champion earlier this week, "You are not a man, you are a coward."  

 

The National Champion has spent nearly two years defending the the title all across the United States.  His frequent flyer card has racked up a lot of miles between Hollywood, Charlotte, Cornelia, McKeepsort, or Lebanon and has faced some of the best of the National Wrestling Alliance.  And in those years, Shatter has earned top ranking in the National Wrestling Alliance, complete with multiple title shots against the Worlds Champion.  Shatter even has something Charlie Haas doesn't, a victory over Adam Pearce.  Phil Shatter told reporters from NWA Southwest, “As Champion, I have the opportunity to effect match-ups that will enhance my championship legacy, and this is certainly one of them!

Phil Shatter will return to the NWA Southwest in the first National Title defense since 2001.  Both men wish to see NWA World Champion Adam Pearce once again.  And both men know that they have to go through each other to earn that shot.  Next month, Sherman Texas, it will take place at Ringside Training & Event Center.  Commissioner Taylor said "This match is about two wrestlers very capable of being World Heavyweight Champion."  The card is being billed “Showdown In Sherman” – a metro area of 100,000 located 55 miles north of Dallas.  The last thing Shatter added was "The Sheik in Florida on November 6th,  make it past him, then Charlie Haas in Texas november 13th! 2 tough battles!"

Charlie Haas pinned 2-time Texas champion Michael Faith to become the NWA Texas Heavyweight champion September 4, in Amarillo, Texas at NWA-SW/PWF.  Charlie Haas is currently ranked #5 in Pro Wrestling Illustrated's NWA Top Ten.

Two-time NWA Texas Champion Michael ‘The Largeador” Faith will make his first title defense September 4 versus the challenge of former WWE star Charlie Haas at NWA-SW’s Panhandle Wrestling affiliate in Amarillo, Texas.

Faith, who weighs 340 pounds, is one of the biggest wrestlers in Texas but extremely agile for his size. He is so agile he has toured Japan many times over the past two years as an American beast. He defeated the Texas legend Kevin Northcutt in 2009, and just recently Chad Thomas who won a match over Lance Cade in his final NWA appearance.

Cade was suppose to get a Texas title shot but passed away before the opportunity so his close friend Haas said he will win for both of them in Amarillo. “I don’t care how big Faith.....he has what belongs to us (Cade) and I am coming for it.”

Faith had been aiming at match with Cade for over three months, but said in all due respect he would have beat him had the match ever taken place. “Cade would have been a great match between two big heavyweights but as for Haas I got 80 pounds on him. He couldn’t even beat Adam Pearce….enough said!”

NWA-SW promoter Ken Taylor said championship matches like this one is what old school NWA wrestling is all about.

BREAKING NEWS: It is being reported at PWInsider that Lance Cade, 29, has died. We have no details at the moment. Our sincerest sympathies go out to all his family, especially his young children.

Alliance Wrestling is sad to hear about the passing of Lance Cade.  Cade, currently Ranked #10 in the NWA World Championship contenders.  Cade had recently returned to the NWA, in NWA Southwest competing for the NWA Texas Heavyweight Championship, currently held by Chad Thomas.  Cade had also issued challenges to North American Champion the Sheik.  Between his dates in the NWA Southwest, Lance joined the All Japan roster teaming with former partner Rene Dupree.  I had an opportunity to speak to Lance back on April 26th talking about his career and his future ambitions in the world of wrestling.  You can listen to it clicking here.  Another one, gone too soon.  And much like PWInsider, I'd live to give my deepest sympathies to Lance's family and his brothers in wrestling.  Rest In Peace.

Two Title matches and Two 3-Ways

on NWA Southwest Show May 1st

The Texas Junior and Texas Tag Team titles will be defended on NWA Southwest's Red River Stampede Road Show May 1, in Whitesboro, Texas.

Rudy Russo will defend his Texas Junior title against former champion Gabe 'The Babe" Himeros, while The Heartthrobs (Shawn Sanders & Bryce Payne) will defend their Tag belts against top contender Pretty Flawless (Jerome Daniels & Keith Lee) now managed by legendary Dallas Sportatorium manager Baboose "The Witch Doctor."

Two other matches will be 3-Ways for both Men and Women. Men's 3-Way will be for next Texas Heavyweight title shot with Dane Griffin, Chad Thomas, and Kevin Northcutt involved. Northcutt is a 9-time champion but had to vacate his belt due to injury recently now held by Ben "New Style" Galvan. The Women will be Lillie Mae, Jen Alise, and La Brenia.

Also, on this star-studded card two former Texas champions Chaz Taylor and Spoiler 2000 facing each other for first time ever.

Tickets go on sale April 1, and 700-800 fans are expected for this second annual Rotary Club fundraiser.

NWA Southwest 12th Anniversary Update

NWA SOUTHWEST 12th ANNIVERSARY SHOW

NWA Southwest (NWA-SW) is putting together a huge card in celebration of its 12th Anniversary on February 26, at the 2800-seat Central Pavilion on the RMB Fairgrounds in Robstown, Texas. NWA-SW had its first show on February 27, 1998 in Dallas.

On this card will be a World Title match of Battle of the Masked Men with champion Blue Demon, Jr. facing recent WWE developmental Sicodelico, Jr. It will be Sicodelico's second shot at NWA glory since facing Adam Pearce back in 2007.

Kevin Northcutt - former TNA star, 2-time World Tag Team champion, and 9-time Texas champ - will defend versus challenger and long time Texas ring vet Ben Galvan.

Also, the card will feature a [MINI] match and a Tornado match. Live band music will precede bell-time.
