WELL WELL WELL, Percy Pringle to appear at NWA Mach One

As a youngster growing up I vaguely remember watching an episode of World Class and seeing that snazzy dresser, Percy Pringle on my television.  I always thought he was a very interesting character.  And often, didn't really no what to think.  A few years later while watching WWF programing, I would see this menacing figure called the Undertaker (who I knew from the NWA as Mean Mark) and his ghoulish manager Paul Bearer ( who had a striking resemblance to Percy Pringle.)  The duo would haunt the entire roster of the WWF for decades and ole Percy was there all along.

Its been nearly 5 years since Percy Pringle has been seen on television and his first time back to California.  Percy will be signing autographs and taking photos at the NWA Mach One show May 22nd SHOWCASE along with big matches featuring Blue Demon Jr. taking on Aaron Aguillera, The M1W Heritage Tag Team Champions The RockNES Monsters will defend against the former NWA World Tag Team Champions Los Luchas and former M1W Heritage Champs, Natural Selection will be taking on M1W Heavyweight Champion Willie Mack and Joey Ryan.

Remember this event is being taped for television.  If you are in Southern California area you need to make the trek to this event.

NWA Pro: Mach One crowns a new champion!

In 2008 Mach One quickly became home to many SoCal regulars to hone their craft in the confinds of the Santa Ana High School Gym with sanctioning by the National Wrestling Alliance. In that time M1Wrestling showcased the prestigious NWA Heritage Championship, which saw the TJ Perkins being crowned as a new champion. Perkins defended this title through out Southern California. M1 decided that 2009 they would showcase a home-grown championship that could be worn around the wasit of a number of grapplers in the M1 family.
It was announced that a full-fledged Battle Royal will determine who the next champion will become. January 29th will see qualifying matches for the big rumble. The 1st round of qualifying matches are Devon Willis vs. Hurricane Marquez and Charles Mercury vs. Johnny Goodtime. Other matches for the show will pit long time rivals "Magnum" Joey Ryan vs. Aaron Aguilera, TJ Perkins vs. "Red Tornado" James Morgan, Drew Hellman vs. Tommy Wilson, "The Professional" Scott Loss vs. NWA Heritage Champion Ryan Taylor. Also in action will be Candice LaRae vs. Carla Jade.
The action takes place Janurary 31st at 2:00pm from the Santa Ana High School

Update in the NWA World Title Tournament

On June 30th, 2007 in Chula Vista, California, in front of a crowd of 350 people, The Shooter Brent Albright topped Fred Sampson to secure his way into the Semi-Finals. The match was originally planned to take place in the home state of Oklahoma, but due to excessive rain fall and flooding this qualifying match was moved to San Diego. The changing of the venues worked to the disadvantage of Albright, because the crowd was behind Sampson, which probably would not have been the case in Oklahoma. Many believed that the match would come to an end when Sampson landed his Bonecrushing Powerslam. Albright shocked the crowd with a Half-Nelson suplex for the 3 count.

July 13th 2007, Knights of Columbus Hall, 4315 N. Vincent Ave, Covina CA. Belltime 8:00pm. Obviously this is home field advantage for "Scrap Iron", however, Adam Pearce has never endured himself to the home crowd. For "Techincal Perfection" Chad Parham may have the edge in this match up. Parham ousted none other that the pride of the Mid-Atlantic, Damien Wayne, to advance in the tournament. "Scrap Iron" may have something to worry about. Pearce beat Aaron Aguilera. The bottom line is that this is yet another styles clash that should lead to an exciting match up. Pearce isn't new to wrestling high flying smaller wrestlers. Adam Pearce feuding for a stint in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla with TNA's Frankie Kazarian. And as depicted earlier in the video of Pearce vs. Pelle in ROH, Pearce is used to facing the guys with a lot of quickness. Parahm has proved he can compete with the bigger guys. Both men are champions in the repective territories. Chad is the Anarchy Heavyweight Champion. Adam is the NWA Heritage Champion.
Lighting struck once when "Techincal Perfection" was able to defeat "Mr. Mid-Atlantic" Damien Wayne. However, Lightning won't be stricking twice. My prediction is that Adam Pearce will be too much for Parham.

"Showdown in CrisisLand!" on Saturday, July 21st, 2007, Live @ Knights of Columbus Hall , 279 Quinnipiac Street in Wallingford, CT! Doors open at 6:30 pm. Bell time is 7:00 pm.
"One new matched confirmed this morning will bring CHIKARA into the NWA spotlight. Currently, the NWA is in the process of crowning a new World Heavyweight champion. As luck would have it, two of the quarter-finalists in the NWA title tournament happen to be participating in our July 21 Wallingford card, and thanks to both Director of Fun Leonard F. Chikarason and NWA Executive Director Bob Trobich, we're proud to announce that for the first time ever, Claudio Castagnoli will face Sicodelico, Jr., and the match has been sanctioned as a quarter-final bout in the ongoing NWA title tourney! Everyone here at CHIKARA is proud to know we'll be playing a small part in this historic title tournament!"

Sicodelico Jr. and Claudio Castagnoli will be facing off in CHIKARA. I don't believe this makes CHIKARA anything offical to the NWA, but just friendly. Much like the NECW who hosted 2 qualifying matches early on for the NWA. This would have to be considered home field advantage for Caludio, considering he has competed inside a CHIKARA ring very frequently. However, the pro-lucha enthusiasm from the crowd might put Sicodelico over with the crowd.

The bracketing thus far hasn't favored either man. This match up should remind many of the match up betweens Dean Malenko and Rey Mysterio Jr. The luchador vs. the mat technician. I am greatly looking forward to this match up. Sicodelico I feel is going to be the under dog in this match up. He has a great opstacle to overcome in Castagnoli. I predict Claudio will put Sicodelico Jr. away and advance to the Semi-Finals.

Harley Race Bracket: 1st Match

There is a long storied history between these two. Their legacy crossed while wrestling in Ultimate Pro Wrestling as a tag team known as Hardkore Inc. Not only did they compete in UPW but also in Mexico Indy scene as the San Diego Horsemen. Most recently they have stood in opposite sides of the ring in the NWA Pro's Affiliate AWS. The match will be fearce as both men know each other very well.

Aaron Aguilera has very little to prove. He is probably the most well recognized name in the tournament. He was on a National Showcase while competing in Wrestling Society X. He wrestled for the WWE as Jesus, in which he had a high profile feud with John Cena. He has competed in Austrailia, Japan, Mexico, and most recently Puerto Rico. He's also been on such tv shows as Mind of Mencia and in commercials for Alltel. He is a legitimate heavyweight. He's in the best shape of his life. He has a diverse background with traditional training in Lucha Libre (6'6 Luchador???), He's trained at the Dojo with the likes of Samoa Joe, Bradley Jay, American Dragon, Rocky Romero, TJ Perkins, amongst many others. In this match he has the distinct advantage of not only that he's bigger than Pearce, but he's also more agile and quicker.

On the flip side, Adam Pearce has been gaining prominence in the US competing for Ring of Honor and wrestling on the NWA Pro showcase. Pearce's background is in a Memphis style of wrestling. He is a great athlete, but usually will look for a shortcut and generally finds one. Pearce's matches usually consist of him bullying the smaller wrestler, but in this case, Pearce actually is the smaller man. If Pearce can keep Aaron Aguilera grounded this this surely will be his match to win.

The bottom line
is, my prediction is Aaron Aguilera. Aguilera is no stranger to big time matches. He's performed on Pay Per View. Pearce is no stranger to gold formerly holding both the UPW World Title and the PWG World Title. Heck he even currently is the NWA Pro Heritage Champion. His resilience on C. Edward Vanderpyle will be neutralized by the possible appearance of El Jefe. Pearce has lost to Aguilera already in NWA Pro's AWS, which means he already knows how to defeat Pearce. In my mind, there is no doubt that Pearce will be World Champion down the road.

Here is a match of "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce from ROH
