NWA Week in Review for Mar. 28th

In the infamous words of Poppa Cal, better late than never, the Alliance proudly brings to you this Week In Review for March 28th, 2009.

All thought a celestial down pour prevented the Alternative Wrestling Show from holding their 7th Anniversary Spectacular, the AWS still moves on. The big news from AWS is a crowning of a new Women's Championship. Already scheduled to participate in the tournament are "The New York Knockout" Nikki, Morgan, Carla Jade, Marissa Lopez, Erica D' Erico, Ellen Degenerate, Candice LaRae, Kittana Vera, and Aiden Riley, with three more names to be announced. Morgan and Erico work regularly for NWA Arizona's IZW. The rest are pretty regular of Southern California. But that isn't the only announcement for AWS as the Alternative Wrestling Show will be holding a show in Burbank, which is an alternative to their Rowland Heights location. (see what I did there.) The Burbank show is to be a part of the Hollywood Show Convention. And lastly the AWS will in fact hold the Anniversary Show at its home at the AWS on Sunday April the 19th.

At Ring Of Honor's "Take No Prisoneers" on April 4th, our worlds champion Blue Demon Jr. steps into Ring of Honor. Demon battles Nigel McGuinness, in an International Tag Team Match. McGuinness joins Claudio Castagnoli to battle Demon and Brent Albright. This will be the 3rd NWA Worlds Champion to appear in front of a ROH audience.

Speaking of wrestling Royalty the relationship with Jerry Lawler and NWA Main Event is in full bloom. Lawler's last appearance in NWA Main Event drew crowd of over 1300 in Kentucky.

Ultimate NWA has announced it will start running again and will be crowning new tag team champions.

NWA Pro Wrestling Revolution has stripped Tag Team Champion Rey Misterio for not being able to make events and the announcement will be made soon.

Lastly "In 2009, ECCW Pro-Wrestling will partner with SHARE Family & Community Services for the first Wrestling With Hunger event. Twenty wrestlers will take part in a 72 hour show in Port Coquitlam, BC with the goal of restocking the food bank shelves and set the world’s record for the longest wrestling show ever!" This is a great positive event for wrestling and I hope more NWA members follow suit.

NWA Pro Wrestling AWS crowning a new champion and a more news.

Although their most recent efforts were stymied by the poor weather, The Alternative Wrestling Show is looking to a great Spring. The 7th Annual Anniversary Show date has been changed to April 19th, 2009 with a bell time of 1:30pm. Tickets purchased for the earlier event will be honored. However a slight card change will take place as Nick Jackson, 1/2 of the Young Bucks, will be working in Japan. The card is still subject to change.

Burbank is not only the home of the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, but will also host the next NWA/AWS event this April. The card is still coming together, but the show will be a part of the Hollywood Show convention and there will be a meet and greet.
Already announced The Human Tornado will take on Heritage Champion, Ryan Taylor. With a card shaping up to look like B-Boy vs. Scorpio Sky, AWS Tag Champs L.A. F***ers taking on the Cutler Bros. A women tag team match between Aiden Riley and Kitana Vera vs. Candice Larae and Carla Jade.

And lastly in May 2009, the AWS Women Championship Tournament will take place in May 2009. The tourney will feature 12 female wrestlers with a 3 Round Tournament. The finals will be a 3-Way Dance/Elimination until there can be only one. The names scheduled to be announced soon of whom will compete.

NWA Week In Review for Mar. 21st

While some sports are marching to some sort of madness the NWA is heading into spring with a bevy of Anniversary Shows. The first being from the Southwest, as Ken Taylor celebrates 11 years Unfortunately things have started off on the wrong foot already as Michael Faith the near 400lbs Texas Champion broke his leg. The main event for the show will be Mike DiBiase putting his North American championship on the line again against Kevin Northcutt. Northcutt a former National Champion and World Tag Champion will be taking a second shot at his nemesis DiBiase. The card will also feature Lance Cade and a crowning of a new Texas Heavyweight Champion.

7 Years ago Bart Kapitzke started the Alternative Wrestling Show. Bart started of using famed talent from the ground breaking indy promotion Revolution Pro and free-lance luchadores from Mexico. In its 7 years Bart has booked some of the most notable names in Indy wrestling, everyone from Super Dragon to American Dragon, Adam Pearce to AJ Styles, Samoa Joe to CM Punk, Christopher Daniels to Adam Pearce. What's really amazing about this story is that AWS was nearly shut down earlier this year. But it seems Bart has got things going in the right direction and will be "Getting Back To It." The spectacular will feature the AWS Tag Team Champions the L.A. F***ers take on former NWA World Tag Team Champions Los Luchas. This will certainly be a fast paced match up. And the team of the Young Bucks and former AWS Champion Scorpio Sky will take on the team of The Ballard Brothers and Heritage Champion Ryan Taylor.

Bart and Ken have done much for their respective scene. However you would be hard press to find a wrestling promoter who has done as much for wrestling in the United States who has done as much as Les Thatcher The Les Thatcher hosted NWA Excellence event has already started last night. First with an open forum Q & A with Thather. Saturday and Sunday will feature in ring training sessions wtih the Top 4 Prospects getting a chance to appear on Anarchy Television.

JD Costello and the NWA Charlotte are showing us all that this is a family business. NWA Charlotte has featured referees of 3 generations of Young Family. They also feature the son of legendary Mid-Atlantic wrestler Gene Anderson, Brad Anderson. Brad will join son of legendary NWA wrestler Ric Flair, as David Flair and Brad Anderson will face off against Jeff Lewis and a Mystery Opponent. Also Abdullah the Butcher will be making an appearance to keep the peace as the quest continues to crown a new US Heavyweight Champion.

On Friday the 13th their was a punch heard around the world. Shane Douglas he has seemingly attempted to apologize to the NWA and specifically Rick O was treated to an old fashioned beat down. Douglas who had just defeated Little Guido apologized for throwing the NWA title to the ground. Was giving praise for his beaten opponent Little Guido. His regret came too little too late for Danny Inferno, Dave Greco, and Don Montoya. Don began by explaining that "Not only did he throw a belt in the garbage but he threw the entire NWA locker room in there also". How by killing the NWA he killed a lot of careers and hard work to make the NWA/ECW relationship work." Shane again tried to say he was sorry when Danny Inferno Said this one is for Coralluzzo and blasted Shane with a right hand that sent the former world champion to the canvas. Greco and Montoya joined in and the beating was on. Former ECW alumnist Danny Doring and Little Guido hit the ring and made the save as the show ended. This war isn't over. In fact it might just be starting.

Lastly we end this Week In Review on a down side. The NWA Showcase has been experiencing some technical difficulties. The next two episodes of the Showcase will be "repeats." If you've missed any of the episodes of the showcase be sure to check out http://NWAWrestling.com or check out past episodes. On the blog we also have links to various NWA members video programs, like NWA Charlotte, IZW's IMPULSE, Anarchy TV, and NWA Cyberslam.

NWA Pro: AWS -- Getting Back To It

In this day in age it isn't often a wrestling promotion sticks around longer than a year or two, let alone seven. AWS has been influential in promoting wrestling through out Southern California. Had it not been for Bart Kapitzke, promotions like Pro Wrestling Guerrilla may never had existed. AWS was also pivotal to the early days of NWA Pro giving many of the wrestler a secondary venue to showcase their skills. In fact, the NWA Heritage title shares lineage with the AWS Heavyweight Title. On March 22nd, AWS Presents its 7th Anniversary Show.

NWA Week in Review for Jan. 31st

The National Wrestling Alliance announced it will again return to running arena shows starting March 2nd South Dakota. David Marquez had announced earlier this week on the Alliance Message Board that the NWA did intend to run arena shows in March. Arena shows featuring the NWA Showcase talent started in 2006 and have been an integeral part of the NWA. This anouncement coinsides with NWA partnering with MyUTV, the My Network TV Affiliate in South Dakota, in bringing the Showcase to that local market. "We've made a deal with them to run our program to support this (and hopefully other) dates. Our programming has been on other network affiliates in the past," David Marquez posted recently on The Alliance message board. David Marquez also mentioned the NWA is actively looking at other stations to partner with to bring its style of wrestling to more local markets while still broadcasting on Colours TV.

Empire Wrestling Federation says goodbye to TJ Perkins. The former Heritage Champion and former EWF Tag Team Champion was bested by his former tag team partner, Liger Rivera in a Loser Leaves Town Match. Perkins and Rivera, formerly Famous for Fearless had won the tag titles as the ultimate underdogs by defeating the much larger La Ola Del Mal. Perkins achieved many honors this year with Rivera, Winning the EWF Tag Titles, Tag Team of the Year for 2008, And Feud of the Year for 2008. However Perkins had grown increasingly frustrated when Pearce lost his Heritage Championship to Ryan Taylor and later turning his back on Rivera after being defeated by the Young Bucks. Perkins attacked former Partner after losing the titles which led to the match that sent Perkins to hopefully greener pastures.

Alternative Wrestling Show owner Bart Kapitzke has sent word that AWS Action is slated to return March 22nd 2009. That date will mark the 7th year of the promotions existence. This has been a hard year for Alternative Wrestling Show and Alternative Wrestling Shop. AWS has canceled all live events, but will be running the Anniversary show. With that being said the Shop is still here and open for business. According to Bart "If you have not been to the store in the past two days, the complete inside has been re-done and it is now alot easier to find what you are looking for. Lot's of figures and dvd's have been marked down! So come on down and check it all out!" If you are not able to make it to the store, you can always make requests to Bart. AWS specializes in wrestling figures (Lucha and WWE), AWS DVDs, Lucha Libre Merchandise, and AWS Apparel.

Mach 1 Wrestling will be crowing a new champion in February. M1W front office announced that qualifying matches will take place to determine participants into a Battle Royal to crown the new honor. Already announced matches taking place on Jan. 29th are Devon Willis vs. Hurricane Marquez and Charles Mercury vs. Johnny Goodtime.

Tiger Mask IV was given a new championship belt, when he requested one. Tiger Mask is the 56th champion and defeated Low Ki for that honor earlier this month.

NWA Main Event returns to the Fair Grounds. Mike Porter announced that the NWA promoter and commissioner George Gulas will be bringing NWA Main Event Wrestling back to the Nick Gulas Sports Arena at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds. Main Event will continue to run at the Community Life Center on Feb. 7th. Porter posted that they are planning to bring in talent from NWA Anarchy as well as talent from West Virgina and Southern Indiana.

AWS - Still here and still in Business.

Alternative Wrestling Show owner Bart Kapitzke has sent word that although the AWS has seen better days, the store is still here and open for business. AWS had to cancel a wrestling event scheduled for earlier this month. The canceling on the show hurt AWS drastically. However, the store was never shut down, nor closed for any reason. And according to Bart "If you have not been to the store in the past two days, the complete inside has been re-done and it is now alot easier to find what you are looking for.

The bad news is that AWS the pro wrestling promotion's live events are still on hold. Bart had decided to sit back and get his head together with new plans for the future of the AWS promotion. He isn't sure if there will be a February Event, but action will return to AWS Outdoors Arena for the big AWS 7 year anniversary show for Sunday March 22, 2009.

NWA Pro is growing...

The year of 2008 marks the start of a new breed of professional wrestling in California. Pro Wrestling Revolution is born and is part of the National Wrestling Alliance. With that in mind, Pro Wrestling Revolution will also be known as “La Revolucion de la Lucha Libre”. The goal is not to try to reinvent the sport of professional wrestling but take back to where it needs to be with a mixture of what it has become today. One of the major ingredients of Pro Wrestling Revolution is the mixture of Lucha Libre. It is obvious to all, this is something that cannot be contained. We have made many friends over the years and we look forward to showcasing these incredible talented luchadores.

We look forward to putting on entertaining shows for all ages and diverse crowds. We have our first date set for May 17th in San Jose, California at Mount Pleasant High School. We will be working with them all year long. We will be releasing the line up in the very near future but can confirm Hijo de Rey Misterio, Piratita Morgan and Octagoncito.

All Pro Wrestling blessed me many years ago with the opportunity to be a part of pro wrestling and I never thought I would be where I am at now. I am thankful for all the knowledge and the opportunities that were given to me, I will never forget. I am moving forward with a different chapter in my life but will never forget where I came from. I will still stay on with APW in some capacities and help where I can be of use.

We are very thankful for all the help and support in putting this together.

¡Viva la Revolución!
Gabriel Ramirez
Well this is news to me. Back in February All Pro Wrestling's Gabe Ramirez started a new wrestling promotion Pro Wrestling Revolution, a lucha libre based wrestling group. Ramirez had introduced talent agreements with the NWA Pro, bringing such wrestlers as KAFU (who is now signed to the WWE), E.G.O., Dana Lee, and J.J Perez. This expands the NWA Pro influence even greater. NWA Pro is now; California (Alternative Wrestling Show, Empire Wrestling Federation, and High-Risk Wrestling), Arizona (Rising Phoenix Wrestling and Impact Zone Wrestling), Utah (Ultra Championship Wrestling - Zero), Colorado (Fusion Pro Wrestling) New Jersey (NWA Pro East), Pennsylvania (NWA Black and Blue), and in Australia with Perth (Explosive Pro Wrestling) and Adelaide (EPW-Adelaide).

Harley Race Bracket: 1st Match

There is a long storied history between these two. Their legacy crossed while wrestling in Ultimate Pro Wrestling as a tag team known as Hardkore Inc. Not only did they compete in UPW but also in Mexico Indy scene as the San Diego Horsemen. Most recently they have stood in opposite sides of the ring in the NWA Pro's Affiliate AWS. The match will be fearce as both men know each other very well.

Aaron Aguilera has very little to prove. He is probably the most well recognized name in the tournament. He was on a National Showcase while competing in Wrestling Society X. He wrestled for the WWE as Jesus, in which he had a high profile feud with John Cena. He has competed in Austrailia, Japan, Mexico, and most recently Puerto Rico. He's also been on such tv shows as Mind of Mencia and in commercials for Alltel. He is a legitimate heavyweight. He's in the best shape of his life. He has a diverse background with traditional training in Lucha Libre (6'6 Luchador???), He's trained at the Dojo with the likes of Samoa Joe, Bradley Jay, American Dragon, Rocky Romero, TJ Perkins, amongst many others. In this match he has the distinct advantage of not only that he's bigger than Pearce, but he's also more agile and quicker.

On the flip side, Adam Pearce has been gaining prominence in the US competing for Ring of Honor and wrestling on the NWA Pro showcase. Pearce's background is in a Memphis style of wrestling. He is a great athlete, but usually will look for a shortcut and generally finds one. Pearce's matches usually consist of him bullying the smaller wrestler, but in this case, Pearce actually is the smaller man. If Pearce can keep Aaron Aguilera grounded this this surely will be his match to win.

The bottom line
is, my prediction is Aaron Aguilera. Aguilera is no stranger to big time matches. He's performed on Pay Per View. Pearce is no stranger to gold formerly holding both the UPW World Title and the PWG World Title. Heck he even currently is the NWA Pro Heritage Champion. His resilience on C. Edward Vanderpyle will be neutralized by the possible appearance of El Jefe. Pearce has lost to Aguilera already in NWA Pro's AWS, which means he already knows how to defeat Pearce. In my mind, there is no doubt that Pearce will be World Champion down the road.

Here is a match of "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce from ROH
