For old school NWA fans, Greg Price is right.

Every year in August, Pro Wrestling enthusiasts mark a weekend on their calendar. It’s a weekend, in which they get the chance to meet their heroes from squared circle wars past, to rekindle the passion they once had. To remember what it was like to be at the local civic center. To transplant themselves back to their living room on a Saturday afternoon sometime in 1985, 87, 75, 78, etc.

That event is the NWA Legends Fan Fest, which for the first time will be held in Atlanta, Georgia this year. The event, which got started and traditionally is held in Charlotte, is on August 4th and runs through the 7th. The venue for the festival is The Airport Marriott. This years fest, will no doubt have a heavy WTBS era/ Georgia Championship Wrestling feel to it; and the tag line for the event is ‘The Last Battle of Atlanta’, a reference to the brutal and classic Tommy Rich/Buzz Sawyer feud which tore through the territory in the early 80’s.

The Sheik on Celebrity Dirty Laundry

For a guy who doesn't speak to much, the world certainly takes notice of when the Sheik does speak. It was nearly a year ago through his handlers the Sheik called Blue Demon Jr. a paper champion and he was too busy meeting celebrities like the Jonas Brothers.  Websites across the country were picking up on the story and if you don't believe me, google it.  The show down between Blue Demon Jr. and The Sheik never happened. But the two stars would dish out their hate in a War of Words. However, unlike last year the Sheik's quest for the World Title isn't just a War of Words.

After the "Infamous Charlotte Incident," The Sheik broke his vow of silence to explain his actions.  From a 70ft. Yatch, Adam Pearce responded and vowed retaliation.  And mirroring the  media's reaction to The Sheik and Blue Demon, websites like Celebrity Dirty Laundry.com, Newsblaze.com, SoSoJuicy.com, Ca.HadNews.com, and more popping up every hour.

Tonight from the Galaxy Theatre, NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, will be taping for its first television show.  It just so happens both Pearce and the Sheik are scheduled to be at the event, although no match is scheduled between the two.  But they will be in the same locker room since the "Infamous Charlotte Incident."  It isn't a matter of if these two will step into a ring to face each other, but when.  And in "Hollywood" tonight the powder keg is set, but who will light the fuse... The Sheik or World Champion Pearce?

NWA Worlds Champion "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce has words for The Sheik

The Champ is not a happy man these days. At NWA Fan Fest, The Sheik attacked Pearce with a chair, leaving him knocked out cold for 10 mins. Is this a war The Skeik can handle? The Champ doesn't think so...

NWA North American Champion: The Sheik will speaks "Infamous Charlotte Incident"

Picture made available by Pro Wrestling Fusion

Since his debut in the National Wrestling Alliance the Sheik has always let his brutality do his speaking for him. When something more needed to be explained, the "Middle Eastern Madman" would always use an ally like Fabulous Frank or Joey Eastman punctuate the wake of devastation he had left behind. But this Friday, a vow of silence will be broken.  I have received word from the Sheik's handlers that the man responsible for the now "Infamous Charlotte Incident" will be speaking on camera.

The Sheik has been known for putting wrestlers on the shelf, just ask Tommy Taylor and Steve Madison.  He successfully knocked out Adam Pearce for a good six minutes with a steel chair shot..  Believing he had injured the Worlds Heavyweight Champion, the Sheik retreated to the back.  But when the match eventually started, the enraged Sheik returned to finish the job.  Will the world finally find out why? Friday 12:00pm Eastern Time, the Sheik will speak for the first time ever.  Make sure you come back here to Alliance-Wrestling for the manifesto of a  madman and find out what led to the "Infamous Charlotte Incident."

Sheik's Camp Makes Statement about attack on NWA World Champion Adam Pearce

SHEIK’S CAMP MAKES STATEMENT
ABOUT THE INFAMOUS CHARLOTTE INCIDENT
Tampa, Florida - August 11, 2010

Sunday August 8th was the day The Sheik decided to make a point. To show the world that he’s tired of being disrespected by the NWA and tired of being denied a match with the Worlds Heavyweight Champion. He made that point the only way he knows how…VERY, VERY, VIOLENTLY!

Adam Pearce paid the price, but the true culprits are those infidels, Bob Trobich and the NWA Board of Directors. They are the cause of the Knot on the head of Adam Pearce. They are the reason the Middle Eastern Madman has taken matters into his own, blood thirsty, hands.

For over a year The Sheik has been denied his destiny. A denial that started when The Blue Demon refused the Sheik a title match, claiming he wasn’t worthy. Sheik’s response was to conquer Florida, The MidWest, and ultimately the North American Continent itself, but still he is denied.

Next, the NWA holds a “Future Legends” tournament and invites many top contenders including the National Heavyweight Champion, Phil Shatter, but where is The Sheik? Why is The North American Champion denied? Why is the most dominant and feared man in the NWA, again, insulted? The truth is clear. The NWA Board of Directors is protecting its Worlds Heavyweight Champion and in doing so, keeping the title out of the reach of The Sheik.

NO MORE! The NWA and it’s World Champion must answer to The Sheik now. Pearce will force The NWA Board of Directors to make the match, and by doing so, will seal his own fate. The Sheik WILL destroy Adam Pearce. The Sheik WILL become NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. The Sheik WILL realize his destiny and Rule the Wrestling World!

NWA World Champion Knocked Out

NWA Legends Fan Fest
Executive Director of the National Wrestling Alliance, Bob Trobich, was in utter disbelief over the ability of NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce who not only recovered from a sneak attack from the Sheik that left the Worlds Champion knocked out, but actually stepped into the ring at such a severe attack. "Holy Crap... He was out COLD yesterday. Just unbelievable," is what Bob told Alliance-Wrestling about the incident. NWA DAWG representative Jaden spoke to me last night and said "It was pretty scary. Pearce received medical attention ringside and we weren't even sure if a match was going to happen."
"Scrap Iron" has proven that his aptly titled nickname has never fit more.  Pearce has already worked a grueling schedule the past few weeks defending the NWA Worlds Title back to back on July 31st in Los Angeles, California and August 1st in Columbus Ohio.  In Ohio, Phil Shatter frustrated in the outcome of Pearce wining the match up, Powerbombed the World Champion after the match up was over.  August 7th, Adam Pearce faced his biggest challenge since regaining the championship in the "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson.  And Danielson went on to lose after being stuffed with one of Pearce's Piledrivers.   But last night the Madman from the Middle East took out some of his own frustrations on the Worlds Champion.  I attempted to reach out to the Sheik to find out why, he would attack the Worlds Champion?  All I heard from the Shiek's handlers is that he was unavailable for comment, but there will be a statement made this Wednesday.  Perhaps Sheik's real statement was made Sunday Night.  Obviously Adam wasn't in a very good mood.  But he did have this to say... "I'm fine... The Sheik will pay for what he's done. He f---ed with the wrong man."

The implications of this attack will be felt much longer than Sunday's match up.  Because it is only seven days before Adam is still scheduled to defend against Charlie Haas!  Ken Taylor sent me this message earlier this morning.  "I wish no injury to anyone but it is part of the business," said Haas after learning of the injury via phone, Monday morning. "I don't like the situation because now when he loses he can say it was because he wrestled still injured from his last match.  I don't want my greatest moment tarnished, so I hope he fully recovers by Saturday because I want to face and beat a 100% Adam Pearce."

Pearce was able to continue the match and the fight even when the Sheik interjected himself again in causing the match to become a no contest.  Pearce shook hands with Phil Shatter at the end of the match.  Everyone at Alliance-Wrestling wish the champion a speedy recovery and look forward to his match up with Charlie Haas August 14th in Gainsville Texas, for NWA Southwest's Parade of Champions X.

Everyone that competes here at NWA: New Beginnings! is eligible for the "NWA Future Legends Cup." Won-loss records will be tallied and the four young superstars with the best overall records will advance to a three-match finale Saturday night, August 7 here in Charlotte to crown a winner.

But there's more!

Not only will one of the extraordinary athletes win the "NWA Future Legends Cup," but the winner will also receive a shot at the coveted "ten pounds of gold," a championship match on Sunday afternoon, August 8 for the NWA World Heavyweight title!

Wow!

I hope you can be with us at fanfest in August to see the final matches and a winner crowned in the "NWA Future Legends Cup!"

So it seems that for now, the NWA New Beginnings will be on hiatus until the big event in Spring.  "Its business... more money was going out than coming in," said promoter Greg Price.  This postponement doesn't change the plans for August.  It is unfortunate that that New Beginnings will not be continuing until August.

And Still your NWA National Champion...

A lot of rumors and speculations came about at the "NWA Legends Fanfest". Allegedly the National Championship changed hands when former WWE, WCW, and ECW star 2 Cold Scorpio pinned "The Universal Soldier", Phillip Shatter during the wrestling side of the Reunion Convention.

However according to the Wrestle Zone and Bill Behrens Shatter was not defeated.

PHIL SHATTER REMAINS NWA NATIONAL CHAMPION

In Show Results from Greg Price’s Legends Weekend in Charlotte on August 8-9 it was incorrectly reported that Too Cold Scorpio defeated Shatter for the NWA National Title. Shatter remains the NWA National Champion and was not pinned by Scorpio on the 1st night’s show, and the announcement to the crowd that Scorpio had won the NWA National Title was false. The NWA regrets the confusion created by Mr. Price.

Larry Goodman's notes from NWA Charlotte

As reported by Larry Goodman and a hat tip to Khrisdogg, it is being announced that NWA Charlotte will be working in conjunction with NWA Fan Fest.
"The show opened with J.D. Costello and Executive Director of the NWA Bob Trobich in the ring. Trobich announced an NWA World Heavyweight Title Match for Charlotte in late May or early June - Champion Blue Demon vs. Adam Pearce. Costello said it would be the first NWA world title match to take place in Charlotte in 19 years and potentially, the first ever NWA title change in Charlotte. Costello also announced a working relationship with Greg Price and his NWA Legend’s Convention that will involve shows on August 8 and 9 at the Coliseum. Costello said it would be a tribute to NWA Mid-Atlantic to give an indication of the caliber of legends."
Goodman also reports that "Last night’s show was another television taping with Lodi and Tim Dixon doing commentary. The company is looking at running a 30 minute weekly television show in Charlotte when they are able to obtain a suitable sponsor…J.T. Talent (NWA Anarchy), B.J Hancock (APW) and Brett Wolverton (announcer for UCW Greenville and APW) and Dan Masters (announcer for SAW and World-1 South) were in the house."
Lastly National Champion Phil Shatter was awarded the NWA Mid-Atlantic Heritage Championship after defeating Larry Zbyszko and punching former Heritage Champion Babby Doll. However Shatter handed the belt over to Jeff Lewis for an undisclosed amount of money and earned his way back into the Charlotte US Title Tournament.
