NWA Hollywood Announces ‘BE THE STAR’ Television Championship Qualifiers

HOLLYWOOD, CA – May 10, 2011 – NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood is proud to announce the “Be The Star” Television Tournament, beginning at this Sunday’s NWA and KDOC-TV Los Angeles television tapings at the Showcase Theater in Hollywood.BeTheStar

“We’re excited to introduce this new concept on the television program,” said David Marquez; Executive Producer. “It will present a brand-new motivation to each and every one of our competitors looking for a chance at the NWA World’s Heavyweight Title. Becoming the ‘Be The Star’ TV champion will catapult a wrestler to a new prominence and immediately raise their standing within the NWA.”

The inaugural “Be The Star” Television Champion will be crowned after an Eight-Man Single Elimination tournament, and wrestlers will have to win a preliminary qualifying bout in order to enter the “Be The Star” tournament. These eight preliminary qualifying bouts will take place THIS SUNDAY as part of the ninth ‘Championship Wrestling from Hollywood’ tapings.

“There is no down time for the Stars of NWA Hollywood,” said Joseph Franciosi; Producer. “The competition begins now, and once we know our eight tournament competitors, the stakes rise again, and everyone at NWA Hollywood is very excited.”

With that, NWA Hollywood has released the first three qualifying bouts taking place this Sunday:

Nick Madrid v. Austin Aries

Scorpio Sky v. Cedric the Hitman

Willie Mack v. Joey Kaos

The Mack/Kaos qualifier has a ton of history behind it and was already scheduled to be a stipulation match. NWA Hollywood officials insist that this added qualifying caveat only raises the stakes even higher between the men, and the final stipulations for their bout will be announced LIVE at the taping.

“This is an exciting time,” offered Marquez. “Rivalries and friendly competitions are one thing, but the advent of this championship will have a much greater impact on the futures of our wrestlers. These qualifying bouts at the Showcase this weekend will set the table for the final eight men, and from there it’s anyone’s game.”

Producer David Lagana may have said it best: “In the ‘City of Angels’ where everyone chases the big dream, eight men will battle to find out who is truly the ‘Star of Hollywood’.”

A sneak attack on Scorpio Sky foils the Main Event showdown between him and "A Double" Austin Aries. But Willie Mack steps up to the plate in this big time main event for NWA Hollywood. Plus Natural Selection (Shaun Ricker and Brian Cage) with Percy Pringle III defending the Heritage Titles against Young Hollywood (Brandon Parker & Todd Chandler), a women match and an outstanding match between Ray Rosas and newcomer Aaron Bolo.

Notes from the NWA Worlds Champion Adam Pearce

February started off right with a successful defense against The Stro in Rand, WV last weekend.  Credit to Leonard Sims and everyone at NWA Mountain State for making the match, I was really happy with the 45 minutes we shared the ring together.
