Thoughts on SoCal Pro Wrestling's Collision Course 2011

SoCal Pro Wrestling presented Collision Course on Saturday May 14th from the Oceanside Boys and Girls Club.  I have only ever had a good time at the SoCal Pro shows and the streak would continue despite some disappointing news.  Off the very bat it was announced that "A Double" had some traveling issue and would not be in attendance tonight.

My heart instantly sunk.  Austin Aries is an amazing performer.  He's held the Ring of Honor World Title twice.  He'd had some of the best matches I've ever seen.  Aries beyond a shadow of a doubt is one of the greatest wrestlers walking today.  But I didn't hurt for me, for the fans at the show.  I really felt bad for SoCal Crazy.  Crazy has had some pretty good matches with a bevy of different opponents in SoCal.  He's wrestled for the NWA Worlds Title against Pearce, he was a Unified SoCal Pro/AWS Heavyweight Champion and has held countless titles.  But this match could have been something different, maybe an opportunity to show the naysayers that he is a top talent not only in this area, but in the United States.  And with no disrespect to anyone at SoCal Pro, but I didn't want to see Crazy taking on just anyone.

Enter Jaysin Strife.  Strife is probably about as under rated performer as SoCal Crazy.  Strife is from Iowa but has popped up in SoCal from time to time, wrestling in Mach-1 and various other promotions in in the state.  I had even seen him in the ring before, but Saturday Night... Strife brought his A-Game.  SoCal Crazy and Jaysin Strife made me shut up and listen.  Made me pay attention to what they did in the ring.  Strife isn't Austin Aries, but he put on one hell of a match with Crazy.  Strife brought out the very best in SoCal Crazy and the two had a match of the year candidate that night.

The night would also reveal new tag team champions with  2 Skinny White Guys (Nic Lovin and Peter Avalon) defeated Kid Caramba and Todd Chandler.  2 Skinny White Guys were on pace to winning these tag titles for months, first being screwed by the Ballard Brothers who would defeat the RockNES Monsters and then lose the titles to Chandler and Caramba.  Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana was able to deflate the "Mirror Image" Ricky Mandel, until Avalon and Lovin got involved.  And later in the night Mandel, Avalon, and Lovin would help Tommy Wilson retain the SoCal Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship.

Tommy had the difficult task of stuffing Hector Canales into a casket.  And although he had help from his compadres, it was a very difficult task.  Canales was obviously not happy with Wilson and wanted to end his title reign, much like the way Wilson ended his.  Canales however was just out numbered and was sealed in a Casket following a "Megastar" Super Kick.

The complete results of the Collision Course 2011 can be found at SoCalUNCENSORED.com.  Clearly SoCal Pro Wrestling continues to present some of the best wrestling in Southern California. SoCal Pro returns to action Friday, June 10, 2011 and Saturday, June 11, 2011 will be The 1st Annual SoCal Pro Tournament to be held in Escondido, CA. The SoCal Pro Tournament will feature sixteen wrestlers trying to advance and become the winner in this two-night event.

NWA Pro/Mach-1 Wrestling presents “Friday Fight Night” on Friday, May 6th with a bell time of 8PM.

NWA Pro/Mach-1 Wrestling presents “Friday Fight Night” on Friday, May 6th with a bell time of 8PM.

Main Event: “Hollywood’s Own” Joey Ryan v. One half of “Young Hollywood” Brandon Parker
-Two stars from “NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood” return to “Friday Fight Night” this Friday in Anaheim. Both men are knee deep in feuds with title implications on the weekly KDOC TV show and will attempt to state their case for NWA gold... this Friday as they Ryan and Parker will go head to head!

Ridiculoso v. Mr. Biggz w/ “Pretty” Peter Avalon
-2 weeks ago, Peter Avalon questioned Mr. Biggz because of a mishap that caused Ridiculoso to score an upset victory over Avalon. Assuring he is worth the money he is paid, Mr. Biggz issued a challenge to Ridiculoso, which he accepted. Can Ridiculoso, giving up a tremendous size and weight advantage score another upset pinfall over the huge, powerful, bodyguard of Avalon?

The return of Willie Mack in action!
-Willie has been on tour around the country recently, but he has not forgotten about the title that means most to him: The M1W Championship. Since James Morgan stole the M1W Championship at “Slam and Jam” with help from Christian Cole, Willie has vowed to stop at nothing to get the championship he feels is rightfully his.

Plus:
Kyle Webb
Jarek Matthews
One half of “Young Hollywood” Todd Chandler
Eric Cross and Saovi
And Johnny Goodtime!!

And more!!

Tickets for the “Hall of Fame Cup” May 21st are on sale at “Friday Fight Night”. $15 for adults, $10 for student’s w/ID and kids.

NWA Pro/M1W "New Years Day Cup" - A 16 Person Juniors Tournament on January 1st, 2011

In the tradition of and inspired by RevPro's "Revolution J", which was the premier SoCal juniors tournament of it's time, NWA/M1W presents the "New Years Day Cup" which will be a 16 person tournament held over one day on Saturday January 1st, 2011 with a start time of 4pm.

One person will have to compete and win in four matches over the course of one evening to win the "New Years Day Cup" and lay claim to be one of, if not the top junior in Southern California.

To qualify as a junior, one must weigh in at under 200 pounds on the day of the event. Here is a list of the entries into this inaugural event.
"Pretty" Peter Avalon
Carson City, NV - 5'10" - 169lbs. - Finisher: "The Marti-Knees"
- "Pretty" Peter Avalon has been enjoying successes recently on NWA Championship Wrestling From Hollywood as well as in M1W, EWF & PWG here in Southern California and could use this tournament to cement his status as a main player.

Todd Chandler
Huntington Beach, CA - 5'9" - 180lbs. - Finisher: "Just Ribbing You"
- Todd Chandler is one half of the newly crowned SoCal Pro Tag Team Champions and is looking to continue to ride that momentum into singles success and bring the cup home.

Disco Machine
Studio 54 in Tempe, Armenia - 5'10" - 199lbs. - Finisher: "Chokebreaker"
- Disco Machine is the most seasoned veteran in the tournament as looking to use that experience to edge out the competition and add the cup to his already stacked list of accolades.

Famous B
Beverly Hoods, CA - 5'8" - 180lbs. - Finisher: "Flashing Lights"
- Famous B out of The Santino Brothers training camp brings an element of mystery to the tournament being a relative newcomer to the NWA family and may just be able to use this unexpectedness to make his way to the cup.

Johnny Goodtime
His parents basement in Scranton, PA - 5'11" - 195lbs. - Finisher: "I'm crushing your head"
- Johnny Goodtime is one of the most successful teams currently in the NWA, The RockNES Monsters, but singles success has eluded him for the most part and now he has an opportunity to earn some singles glory.

Kyu
Las Vegas, NV - 5'8" - 170lbs. - Finisher: "Devil's Dagger"
- Kyu is a tremendous high flier and a juniors tournament might just be the platform he needs to be successful as he is stylistically most comfortable in this element.

Candice LeRae
Disneyland, CA - 5'2" - 113lbs. - Finisher: "Raccoon Neckbreaker"
- Candice LeRae is the only female in the tournament and had to petition hard for the spot as the NWA typically doesn't condone the element of a man vs. a woman, but her history in battling man and successes in it have convinced the Board of Directors.

Jarek Matthews
Woodward, OK - 5'7" - 200lbs. - Finisher: "So I guess this is goodbye"
- Jarek Matthews is perhaps the biggest underdog in the tournament but you'd never know it by talking to him as that day as well as everyday to him is "The Best Day Ever."

Brandon Parker
Los Angeles, CA - 5'9" - 155lbs. - Finisher: "Top Rope Double Stomp"
- Brandon Parker is a striker has a strong ground game that may come in handy battling fellow juniors because if he can find a way to keep his opponents grounded then the cup will be his.

TJ Perkins
Los Angeles, CA - 5'10" - 175lbs. - Flying Armbar
- TJ Perkins has to be considered the odds on favorite in any juniors tournament that he competes in. He blends high flying with technical ability better than almost anybody in the world and his opponents will be hard pressed to find a chink in his armor.

Ridiculouso
Kalamazo, MI - 6'0" - 155lbs. - Finisher: "Cut Throat Silver Slice"
- Ridiculoso has an unorthodox style that makes him almost impossible to train and prepare for and thus may just shock everyone on his way to the cup.

Joey Ryan
Hollywood, CA - 5'10" - 210lbs. - Finisher: "The End Scene"
- Joey Ryan weighed in today at 210lbs and despite historically being a fan of Christmas treats has guaranteed by January 1st, he will be at 200lbs and eligible for the tournament. With recent success in PWG's Battle of Los Angeles tournament, Ryan doesn't want to miss another opportunity for tournament glory.

Scorpio Sky
Big Bear, CA - 5'10" - 193lbs. - Finisher: "TKO"
- Scorpio Sky had an incredible year in 2010 including battles with Shelton Benjamin and Adam Pearce and brings a stacked resume into the tournament and is looking to add the cup to it.

Sidarin
Los Angeles, CA - 5'6" - 155lbs. - Finisher: "Shiranui"
- Sindarin is one of the last graduates of the AWS camp and will be making his M1W debut in the tournament and knows an opportunity to make a splash like this might be a once in a lifetime chance.

Ryan Taylor
Long Beach, CA - 6'0" - 190lbs. - Finisher: "Tope Attomico"
- Ryan Taylor is a main player almost everywhere he goes and not only is the EWF champion but is a regular in PWG and has recent experience from Michinoku Pro in Japan.

Johnny Yuma
San Diego, CA - 5'7" - 140lbs. - Finisher: "Sex Factor"
- Johnny Yuma is the other half of The RockNES Monsters and much like his partner, is also looking to showcase his singles ability and bring the cup to his tour bus.

NWA Pro/MIW presents: Friday Fight Night

MAIN EVENT
RockNES Monsters vs. Anchors Away-with newly crowned M1W Champion Willie Mack representing Mach-1 in San Francisco, the tandem of Johnny Goodtime and Johnny Yuma take center stage, hoping to spoil the M1W debuts of SoCal mainstays Anchors Away. Will the sea men be able to match up to the high intensity of the Mach-1 crowd favorites?

Bobby Jo Marshall vs. Andrew Hellman-Marshall has gone on record as saying that there is no competition for him here at Mach-1; a boast that Willie Mack proved otherwise when he took Marshall’s title last week. The Awesome Australian has gone on record as saying that Mack’s win was a fluke, and has vowed that if he loses to the red hot Andrew Hellman, he’ll leave Mach-1 and go back to his homeland. Does Hellman have the fuel, the fire, and the desire to fall this monster from down under? For Hellman’s championship aspirations, he’d better hope so.

James Morgan vs. Todd Chandler-Morgan’s frustration has only grown since losing the M1W Championship—a title he defended against the top talents in SoCal for over a year. Those frustrations grew more when he was pinned by the new M1W Champion Willie Mack last Friday night then attacked him during the 4 way elimination match. Todd Chandler coming in as the underdog, is looking for his second victory, one that would be sure to be an upset, against a highly motivated, perhaps even desperate former champion.

“Pretty” Peter Avalon (w/Mr. Biggz) vs. Mikey Callahan-In a short time, Callahan has begun to be a fan favorite in M1W. Certainly, he has the size and strength advantage over the cunning, crafty Avalon, but he’ll have to overcome two major factors in Avalon’s arsenal—his propensity to win at any cost, and the 300+ pound equalizer Mr. Biggz in his corner.

Sonny Samson vs. David Flex-Since arriving in M1W, Flex has been anything but bashful in showing off his impressive physique. Now he’ll have to rely on tools other than his strength in meeting up with one of the few men in Mach-1 who can out muscle him.

PLUS: In singles action: Kyle Webb v. Dan Moore

NWA Pro/Mach One Wrestling’s weekly “Friday Fight Night” comes to you live from the American Sports Center at 1500 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805. Bell time 8:05PM, doors open at 7:30. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students w/ ID and children 12 and under.
