NWA West Coast Wrestling Connection-- Weekend Recap

What an exciting weekend of Pro Wrestling action!!!! For those that missed out, the last two nights saw many ups and downs in the WC. Every single title in the NWA's WC was defended at least once. We saw Gorgeous Michelle Starr pull out scheme after scheme from his bag of tricks to retain his NWA Northwest championship belt, thwarting the World's Sexiest Doctor, not once but twice over this weekend. We saw Kliever battle valiantly against Michelle Starr in Gervais, only to turn around and have to fight his way through three former champion's- "Main Event" Moose Morrow, "The Lone Wolf" Erik Baeden, and Ryan Taylor- just to get his hands on Michelle Starr again. Michelle and his cohorts were in top form, not only robbing Kliever of his chance to win the Northwest Championship, but also costing fan favorite, Nick Madrid, to lose his Lightning Division Title to TKO Cody Smith. When all was said and done though, Michelle Starr was suspended for one month do to his heinous actions. Nick Madrid was very vocal though in assuring the champion that when he returns from his suspension in May, Madrid will be waiting for him. And in the surprising moment of the night, the newly formed Can Am Experience shocked everyone by defeating not only Eric Right and Ethan HD, but also the tag team champions Love American Style to become the new NWA Northwest Tag Team Champions.

New Lightning Division Champion in NWA WCWC

Nick Madrid walked into Survival Games IV for two reasons, to win his first championship belt and to lead his team to victory and to become $10,000 dollars richer.

Nick Madrid, who was recently on Talk NWA, squared off against Reigning Lightning Division Champion Jonas Albert Robinson, a man Madrid is all too familiar with.  Aside from their last encounter when Madrid defeated Robinson via a disqualification the two have a well documented history.  It is a known fact that Nick Madrid trained at the Storm Wrestling Academy.  So did Robinson.  The duo had trained together while under the tutelage of Lance Storm and even room mates. 

Madrid would tweet "Won my first Title almost 2 years to the day I finished training with [Lance Storm]!"  He would later post on his facebook "Thank you to everyone who has supported me since day 1. I'll smell the roses later. Now onto business."  When I asked him what's next his response, "I'm going to Disneyland."

NWA Hollywood Announces ‘BE THE STAR’ Television Championship Qualifiers

HOLLYWOOD, CA – May 10, 2011 – NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood is proud to announce the “Be The Star” Television Tournament, beginning at this Sunday’s NWA and KDOC-TV Los Angeles television tapings at the Showcase Theater in Hollywood.BeTheStar

“We’re excited to introduce this new concept on the television program,” said David Marquez; Executive Producer. “It will present a brand-new motivation to each and every one of our competitors looking for a chance at the NWA World’s Heavyweight Title. Becoming the ‘Be The Star’ TV champion will catapult a wrestler to a new prominence and immediately raise their standing within the NWA.”

The inaugural “Be The Star” Television Champion will be crowned after an Eight-Man Single Elimination tournament, and wrestlers will have to win a preliminary qualifying bout in order to enter the “Be The Star” tournament. These eight preliminary qualifying bouts will take place THIS SUNDAY as part of the ninth ‘Championship Wrestling from Hollywood’ tapings.

“There is no down time for the Stars of NWA Hollywood,” said Joseph Franciosi; Producer. “The competition begins now, and once we know our eight tournament competitors, the stakes rise again, and everyone at NWA Hollywood is very excited.”

With that, NWA Hollywood has released the first three qualifying bouts taking place this Sunday:

Nick Madrid v. Austin Aries

Scorpio Sky v. Cedric the Hitman

Willie Mack v. Joey Kaos

The Mack/Kaos qualifier has a ton of history behind it and was already scheduled to be a stipulation match. NWA Hollywood officials insist that this added qualifying caveat only raises the stakes even higher between the men, and the final stipulations for their bout will be announced LIVE at the taping.

“This is an exciting time,” offered Marquez. “Rivalries and friendly competitions are one thing, but the advent of this championship will have a much greater impact on the futures of our wrestlers. These qualifying bouts at the Showcase this weekend will set the table for the final eight men, and from there it’s anyone’s game.”

Producer David Lagana may have said it best: “In the ‘City of Angels’ where everyone chases the big dream, eight men will battle to find out who is truly the ‘Star of Hollywood’.”

Nick Madrid Joins Alliance Radio

Madrid started on his journey nearly two years ago and has advanced quicker than most.
