MAIN EVENT

M1W Championship
Jarek Matthews [c] vs. Kyle Webb

Since overcoming all odds and defeating James Morgan to become the M1W Champ, Matthews has had to look over his shoulder as the opportunistic and seemingly jealous Webb utilized every chance he got to further damage Matthew’s injured arm. After several sneak attacks and cheap shots, Webb finally gets what he claims has been unjustly kept from him; a chance to become M1W Champion, while Matthews finally gets his hands on the man who has made his life Hell for months. Will the Best Streak Ever continue, or will the Eternal Opportunist’s implausible rise finally come to a halt?

NWA Pro/M1W "New Years Day Cup" - A 16 Person Juniors Tournament on January 1st, 2011

In the tradition of and inspired by RevPro's "Revolution J", which was the premier SoCal juniors tournament of it's time, NWA/M1W presents the "New Years Day Cup" which will be a 16 person tournament held over one day on Saturday January 1st, 2011 with a start time of 4pm.

One person will have to compete and win in four matches over the course of one evening to win the "New Years Day Cup" and lay claim to be one of, if not the top junior in Southern California.

To qualify as a junior, one must weigh in at under 200 pounds on the day of the event. Here is a list of the entries into this inaugural event.
"Pretty" Peter Avalon
Carson City, NV - 5'10" - 169lbs. - Finisher: "The Marti-Knees"
- "Pretty" Peter Avalon has been enjoying successes recently on NWA Championship Wrestling From Hollywood as well as in M1W, EWF & PWG here in Southern California and could use this tournament to cement his status as a main player.

Todd Chandler
Huntington Beach, CA - 5'9" - 180lbs. - Finisher: "Just Ribbing You"
- Todd Chandler is one half of the newly crowned SoCal Pro Tag Team Champions and is looking to continue to ride that momentum into singles success and bring the cup home.

Disco Machine
Studio 54 in Tempe, Armenia - 5'10" - 199lbs. - Finisher: "Chokebreaker"
- Disco Machine is the most seasoned veteran in the tournament as looking to use that experience to edge out the competition and add the cup to his already stacked list of accolades.

Famous B
Beverly Hoods, CA - 5'8" - 180lbs. - Finisher: "Flashing Lights"
- Famous B out of The Santino Brothers training camp brings an element of mystery to the tournament being a relative newcomer to the NWA family and may just be able to use this unexpectedness to make his way to the cup.

Johnny Goodtime
His parents basement in Scranton, PA - 5'11" - 195lbs. - Finisher: "I'm crushing your head"
- Johnny Goodtime is one of the most successful teams currently in the NWA, The RockNES Monsters, but singles success has eluded him for the most part and now he has an opportunity to earn some singles glory.

Kyu
Las Vegas, NV - 5'8" - 170lbs. - Finisher: "Devil's Dagger"
- Kyu is a tremendous high flier and a juniors tournament might just be the platform he needs to be successful as he is stylistically most comfortable in this element.

Candice LeRae
Disneyland, CA - 5'2" - 113lbs. - Finisher: "Raccoon Neckbreaker"
- Candice LeRae is the only female in the tournament and had to petition hard for the spot as the NWA typically doesn't condone the element of a man vs. a woman, but her history in battling man and successes in it have convinced the Board of Directors.

Jarek Matthews
Woodward, OK - 5'7" - 200lbs. - Finisher: "So I guess this is goodbye"
- Jarek Matthews is perhaps the biggest underdog in the tournament but you'd never know it by talking to him as that day as well as everyday to him is "The Best Day Ever."

Brandon Parker
Los Angeles, CA - 5'9" - 155lbs. - Finisher: "Top Rope Double Stomp"
- Brandon Parker is a striker has a strong ground game that may come in handy battling fellow juniors because if he can find a way to keep his opponents grounded then the cup will be his.

TJ Perkins
Los Angeles, CA - 5'10" - 175lbs. - Flying Armbar
- TJ Perkins has to be considered the odds on favorite in any juniors tournament that he competes in. He blends high flying with technical ability better than almost anybody in the world and his opponents will be hard pressed to find a chink in his armor.

Ridiculouso
Kalamazo, MI - 6'0" - 155lbs. - Finisher: "Cut Throat Silver Slice"
- Ridiculoso has an unorthodox style that makes him almost impossible to train and prepare for and thus may just shock everyone on his way to the cup.

Joey Ryan
Hollywood, CA - 5'10" - 210lbs. - Finisher: "The End Scene"
- Joey Ryan weighed in today at 210lbs and despite historically being a fan of Christmas treats has guaranteed by January 1st, he will be at 200lbs and eligible for the tournament. With recent success in PWG's Battle of Los Angeles tournament, Ryan doesn't want to miss another opportunity for tournament glory.

Scorpio Sky
Big Bear, CA - 5'10" - 193lbs. - Finisher: "TKO"
- Scorpio Sky had an incredible year in 2010 including battles with Shelton Benjamin and Adam Pearce and brings a stacked resume into the tournament and is looking to add the cup to it.

Sidarin
Los Angeles, CA - 5'6" - 155lbs. - Finisher: "Shiranui"
- Sindarin is one of the last graduates of the AWS camp and will be making his M1W debut in the tournament and knows an opportunity to make a splash like this might be a once in a lifetime chance.

Ryan Taylor
Long Beach, CA - 6'0" - 190lbs. - Finisher: "Tope Attomico"
- Ryan Taylor is a main player almost everywhere he goes and not only is the EWF champion but is a regular in PWG and has recent experience from Michinoku Pro in Japan.

Johnny Yuma
San Diego, CA - 5'7" - 140lbs. - Finisher: "Sex Factor"
- Johnny Yuma is the other half of The RockNES Monsters and much like his partner, is also looking to showcase his singles ability and bring the cup to his tour bus.

Bobby Quance has still got it or ... NWA Pro/Mach-1 Results 09/10/10

This man will be leaving on a plane. To fly to Afghanistan, were he will be proudly serving his country... And when you come back, if you decide you still want to wrestle, you will always have a home at Mach-1 Wrestling.

These words or words very close to these are what Mach-1 Promoter Jon Ian said to Bobby Quance, with all of the faces in the ring applauding the losing efforts of "The Shooting Star". This was a one time appearance by Bobby as Jon explained, as Bobby would soon be heading to live combat in Afghanistan. Regardless of your thoughts on war or politics, this Pat Tillman like gesture is of the most noble. I was happy to see Bobby Quance match at Mach-1 and I hope it wasn't his last.

The night started off with Josh Worthy and Jarek Matthews. Matthews' following seems to be growing. The match had a few hiccups, but I believe both guys really put out a good effort. Matthews win came off as an upset, which surprised me. I'm a lot more familiar with Matthews then I was Worthy.

The next match up was the newly reformed "Red Tornado" James Morgan taking on Kyle Webb with manager David Troy. Morgan is one of those vets who I think never gets the credit he deserves. He tells a pretty good story in the match, his moves are pretty crisp, and the crowd really seemed to be, behind the former Mach-1 Champion. Kyle Webb has improved a lot since I last saw him in a one on one match. And the story going into the match seems that Webb is being controlled by his manager. And even in victory, Morgan offered a hand shake that Troy did not want Webb accepting. And although Webb appeared to want to shake hands, Troy had the last word.

Next up was one half of the NWA Pro/Mach-1 Heritage Tag Team Champions, Johnny Yuma. And Yuma was flying solo against frequent nemesis "Pretty" Peter Avalon. The chemistry between Yuma and Avalon is pretty interesting. They seem to gel so well in the ring against each other that I'd wonder if they weren't on opposite sides of the ring, what they would look like as a tag team. The match really was back and forth and Avalon stepped up his game. Of course Avalon took whatever short cut he could find. The match ended when a distracted Chris Massie trying to get Yuma out of the corner afforded Avalon the opportunity to attack Yuma's most sensitive of areas, not unlike Ric Flair. And although Avalon stole one, you have to think these two will faces off again real soon.

Next the combination of Nick Madrid and Mikey Callahan took on Natural Selection. And regardless of some of the more snarky comments coming from the peanut gallery, I think Rickers has gotten pretty good on the microphone. After welcoming back his partner Cage, and lambasting the crowd, Natural Selection took to the ring. Really taking it to Madrid, Natural Selection really dominated the first half of the match. When Madrid did make the hot tag, Callahan was red hot. Like a One Man Wrecking Crew, Callahan was destroying Selection. It wouldn't be long before Selection would regain control and finishing the match. Before the finish, Callahan received the same treatment as Johnny Yuma in that sensitive area. And as a wrestling fan, I just don't condone that.

Willie Mack returned the American Sports Center angry. And the thing about Mack is that he has been good for some time. I've enjoyed his work for a while now. But it seems like Mack's feud with Watts has really taken him to the next level. Is this the evolution of Willie Mack? Mack wasted no time in thoroughly extinguishing Leo Blaze. Mack put the Blaze out with a thunderous powerbomb. How long before we hear the chants that "Mack is gonna kill you!"

The Main Event was the reason I got out to the show. Bobby Quance has always been one of my favorites when I first saw him in the early days of PWG. And TJ Perkins spent a lot of time working with Quance from back in their days at the Inoki Dojo. Perkins was the perfect opponent. Quance is a little bigger, little older, and neck was a little more sunburn then I'm used to seeing. But its had to believe that this was his first match back. He was very fluid in the ring. His signature moves still in tact. Complete with the Shooting Star to his feet, it seemed as if Bobby never left. The crowds in attendance seemed to be split, half cheering for TJ and the other half cheering for Bobby. And you can tell the match was really special when guys like Tommy Williams, Joey Ryan (in sling), Lil Cholo, and Kid Caramba all made there way to this event. The Shooting Star certainly gave it his all against TJ Perkins, but TJ won the match with a victory roll. You would have thought this match up would have headlined an EVOLVE or a Dragon Gate USA DVD. But the 100 or so fortunate fans at the American Sports Center were rewarded with this match. And not even the sounds of a fire alarm would get the fans to leave their seats during this match.

After the finish, the faces of Mach-1 emptied the locker room and filled the ring, congratulating Bobby with hand shakes and hugs. Jon Ian gave a very touching speech about Bobby's efforts to join the military when he was at the top of his game. Quance was then hoisted on the shoulders of Mack and Morgan as the crowd chanted "Thank You Bobby" and "USA."

NWA/EWF Remembers Louie Spicolli

February marks the anniversary of Louie's passing. (Born February 10, 1971 – Passed February 15, 1998) Louie performed in Mexico's AAA promotion under the ring name Madonna's Boyfriend, for the World Wrestling Federation he worked as Rad Radford, and in Extreme Championship Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling in the 1990s as Louie Spicolli. He is sometimes credited as being the inventor of the Death Valley Driver finisher. Louie is missed dearly by those who knew him, and Louie was a member of the early days of the EWF as he battled the likes of Bobby Bradley, Cincinnati Red, among others. Louie was not married and didn't leave behind any children, and for that reason the Empire Wrestling Federation wishes to hold an event in the memory of Louie with part of the proceeds going to the Red Cross to be used towards the Haiti earthquake victims. It is our way for Louie to be remembered and for his name to make some impact in a very positive way. We will have a donation box at our upcoming EWF event so that we can raise as much as possible to help the victims of these tragic earthquake, with the goal to raise as much as we can to deliver the Red Cross on Feb 19th. Save that date on your calendar.
